In a targeted operation, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force eliminated notorious bandit Isa Dei-Dei in Abuja’s suburb, marking a significant blow to criminal elements in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the operation, executed by officers from the Department of Force Intelligence of the Intelligence Response Team, unfolded with precision on Wednesday.
While Isa Dei-Dei met his fate during the encounter, several other gang members sustained gunshot wounds as they attempted to evade capture, Adejobi confirmed.
“In the fierce gun duel that ensued upon their sighting of the police, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was neutralised, while other members of the syndicate managed to escape with injuries,” Adejobi explained in a statement.
The heightened security response comes amid a worrying surge in kidnapping incidents plaguing the Federal Capital Territory since the onset of the year, instilling fear among residents.
Just days before the raid, on February 1, 2024, two teenage sisters fell victim to abduction in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, adding to the mounting concerns over security.
In a prior operation, FCT Command police operatives apprehended a 20-year-old kidnapping kingpin, Buhari Muhammad, alongside five accomplices in an Abuja hotel. The arrest, prompted by intelligence reports, resulted in the rescue of Joshua Eze, who had been kidnapped on January 27.
SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Command’s spokesperson, disclosed that among the seized items were an AK-47 rifle and N350,000 recovered from the suspects, underscoring the intensity of criminal activities being combated by law enforcement agencies.
