During the inauguration of the 10.98km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road in the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, commended his counterpart, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for spearheading the successful completion of the project.

Expressing his appreciation, Otti congratulated Fubara for prioritizing infrastructure development in the Eleme community, where Fubara had previously resided. The road, also known as Old Bori Road, represents a significant milestone in Fubara’s administration and was awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation at a cost of N6.7 billion in August 2023.

In his address, Otti underscored the essence of leadership in serving the people, cautioning against self-serving interests. He emphasized that genuine leadership should prioritize the welfare and interests of the majority, reflecting a commitment to democratic principles and public service.

Highlighting the significance of good governance, Otti affirmed his confidence in Fubara’s leadership, noting that distractions would not deter Fubara from delivering tangible benefits to the people of Rivers State. He assured the citizens of Rivers State that the dividends of democracy witnessed thus far are just the beginning, with more transformative initiatives on the horizon.

In response, Fubara acknowledged the challenges facing his administration, particularly regarding outstanding debts owed to contractors for projects commissioned by the previous administration. Despite these hurdles, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability, pledging to provide a detailed “white paper” outlining the funding and execution of the road project.

Celebrating the inauguration of the road project as part of his administration’s one-year anniversary, Fubara expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deliver meaningful development to the people of Eleme and beyond. He emphasized the resilience of his administration in the face of adversity, highlighting the unwavering dedication to progress and service to the community.

Fubara welcomed Otti’s presence at the inauguration, citing Otti’s reputation as a leader of action and integrity. The collaboration between the two governors underscores a shared commitment to fostering development and prosperity across state lines, transcending partisan divides for the collective benefit of the Nigerian people.

As Fubara’s administration continues to prioritize infrastructure development and inclusive governance, the inauguration of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road symbolizes a tangible manifestation of progress and resilience in Rivers State, setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at advancing the well-being of its citizens.
