The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the dominant force in Kaduna State’s local government elections, securing 23 chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship seats. This resounding victory was confirmed by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) following Saturday’s polls.
Announcing the results, KADSIECOM Chairperson, Hajiya Hajara Mohammed, declared the APC’s triumph over seven other political parties that participated in the election.
“By the power vested in the Commission, I hereby confirm the results as submitted by the returning officers,” Mohammed stated. “The APC has won 23 local government chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship seats across the state.”
Governor Uba Sani, after casting his vote at the LEA Kawo polling unit in Kaduna, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, which he described as free, fair, and largely peaceful, despite minor issues reported in a few polling units and wards.
Elsewhere, Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, commended the orderly conduct of local government elections in his state. After voting in Okene Local Government, he praised citizens for their peaceful participation, regardless of political affiliations.
Both governors’ remarks underscore the overall smooth administration of these crucial local polls, reinforcing the APC’s hold on local governance across Kaduna.
