APC Predicts Show Of Strength As Ekiti Campaign Enters Final Stretch

The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election has said its final campaign rally this week will serve as a major test of support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji as he seeks a second term in office ahead of Saturday’s vote.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, is expected to draw Vice-President Kashim Shettima, APC governors, senior party officials, ministers, members of the National Assembly and supporters from across the country, according to the campaign organisation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the council’s director of media and communication, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the rally would mark the culmination of months of campaigning by the party and its candidates, Governor Oyebanji and his running mate, Monisade Afuye.

The gathering, to be held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion on New Iyin Road in Ado Ekiti, “marks the climax of an unprecedented grassroots campaign that has traversed every ward, community and local government area of the state,” Olatunbosun said.

He added that party officials expected the event to rank among the largest political gatherings in the state’s history and to demonstrate the level of public backing for Oyebanji’s bid to secure another four-year term.

The APC campaign council argued that the rally follows a wave of endorsements from traditional rulers, professional bodies, market groups, artisans, youth and women’s organisations, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders and political stakeholders from across the state.

According to the council, the expected attendance of senior APC figures reflects both the strategic significance of Ekiti to the ruling party and the confidence of national leaders in Oyebanji’s stewardship.

The governor, who has been in office since 2022, has been credited by supporters with advancing projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and economic development, while pursuing a consensus-driven style of governance aimed at reducing political divisions.

Olatunbosun said the campaign trail had revealed widespread approval of the governor’s record, with residents citing his accessibility and responsiveness as key reasons for supporting his re-election.

He described the rally as both a celebration of the administration’s achievements and a symbolic endorsement of its broader political message.

“The grand finale mega rally will not only celebrate the achievements of the administration, but also serve as a historic affirmation of the collective resolve of Ekiti people to sustain the peace, stability, development and inclusive governance that have become the hallmarks of the Oyebanji administration,” he said.

The campaign council said the event would send a signal that support for the governor’s continuation in office cuts across political affiliations, social groups and generations.

Organisers also said security and logistical arrangements had been put in place for the gathering and urged supporters to comply with traffic and security directives throughout the event.
