The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, revealed that the FCT Administration has initiated the procurement processes for drones to bolster the security infrastructure of the territory.

Wike disclosed this during a courtesy visit from the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Deri, held in Abuja on Thursday.

Responding to the consul-general’s remarks regarding the necessity of drones, Minister Wike affirmed the administration’s commitment, stating, “Whether we want some drones? Yes, there is no going back.” He pledged to consult security experts to determine the most suitable drones for the FCT’s diverse terrain, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.

Highlighting security as a key priority in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike emphasized the tangible results of ongoing security interventions in the FCT, noting a significant reduction in insecurity incidents. He asserted that Abuja’s safety has notably improved due to the administration’s proactive measures.

During the visit, Consul-General Deri expressed Hungary’s readiness to collaborate with the FCT Administration in enhancing security within the territory, underscoring a shared commitment to fostering safety and stability.
