In a solemn funeral service at the Cathedral (Anglican) Church of St. Mark’s in Kaiama, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State paid tribute to the late Madam Priscilla Preye Appah, extolling her as a mother who devoted her life to humanity. Madam Appah, who passed away at the age of 87 on September 21, 2023, was celebrated for her significant contributions as a midwife, teacher, and beacon of moral values.

Governor Diri, reflecting on the life of the deceased, emphasized her role in making society better through dedicated service and instilling proper moral values in her children. He particularly acknowledged the positive impact of her upbringing on her son, Ovieteme George, a broadcast journalist actively contributing to society.

Expressing concern about the diminishing values in society, Governor Diri called on parents to impart the right values in their children, emphasizing the importance of raising children with love and moral guidance. He urged the people of Bayelsa to emulate the virtues of Madam Priscilla Appah, who, as a teacher and nurse, gave her best to humanity.

In his eulogy, Governor Diri recognized the late Priscilla Appah as one of his staunch supporters, expressing gratitude for her unwavering support during his re-election. He acknowledged her as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and recounted her encouraging words before elections, describing her as a fulfilled woman who stood by the party through thick and thin.

“As a party, we need to honor the late Priscilla Appah. She was one of us. She stood by us at all times. On behalf of a very grateful government, we bid you farewell,” Governor Diri stated, concluding with prayers for the repose of her soul and comfort for the bereaved families.
