Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, highlighted the need for a process ensuring fairness, equity, and inclusion in selecting his successor before the 2024 governorship election.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, the governor expressed his administration’s dedication to concluding its term on a strong note. He stated, β€œIt is not my role to determine, appoint, or anoint any successor, but there must be fairness and inclusion in the process to maintain unity in Edo.”

Addressing potential concerns, he added, “That is the only issue I foresee, and it should not hinder us. Our focus is to complete everything promised to the people during our campaign.” Regarding Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Obaseki clarified, β€œI have nothing personal against the deputy governor, and never had. The issues are straightforward for me.”
