What’s in “ordinary” green and white colours?

What’s in mere exercises branded sports?

If only our leaders know…If only our leaders understand…If only our leaders appreciate….

The Nigerian flag illuminated the podium, stage and the entire Wembley stadium once Kelechi Iheanacho brought it and spread it to glow before the watching world.

It was a reminder of the fact that our leaders don’t know what they behold by leading our blessed and beloved country Nigeria.

It was a reminder to the United Nations, world leaders, superpowers and particularly Britain our former colonial masters who still have vested interests in Nigeria that their silence on the Nigerian situation is evil.

The colours green and white as reflected on the flag held by Iheanacho equally reminds the world of the wealth and peace abound in Nigeria which are being destroyed by forces of darkness.

Iheanacho and Ndidi through the flag they flaunted in Wembley remind our leaders of how they abandoned sports which is a money spinning sector to focus on oil.

Sports is the third highest forex earner for United States of America, Brazil, China, Britain, France and Germany among others. Most of these countries build on sports they have comparative advantages over others.

Sadly, our leaders pursue oil money and fail to invest in sports to produce world champions who would attract foreign investors to sink in more money to develop the sector and make it a money spinning one that would create employment or job opportunities.

There are thousands of Kelechi Iheanachos and Wilfred Ndidis in the North and in the South. Rather than harness their talents and potential, nurture and manage them to stardom to bring wealth and glory to Nigeria, our leaders prefer to turn them through lack of education and unemployment into Almajiris, political thugs, bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, militants, Yahoo boys and ritual killers among others.

Thank you Kelechi Iheanacho. Thank you Wilfred Ndidi….for these reminders.
