The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, revealed the inauguration of a new office dedicated to processing Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR).

Keyamo, in a statement posted on X.com on Thursday, hailed the establishment of this office as a significant stride towards bolstering border security and facilitating lawful travel. “Yesterday, along with my colleague, the HM Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, we unveiled the new Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) office at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters,” he noted.

API and PNR, as Keyamo elucidated, are two technical solutions aimed at streamlining traveler identification management and easing border control procedures. He emphasized that this initiative emerged from fruitful collaboration between government agencies and the private sector.

“This solution will help to maintain the delicate balance between facilitating cross-border movements and upholding border security,” Keyamo added. “It is a product of effective cooperation between government agencies, the private sector, and relevant international actors.”

Earlier in May, Keyamo had announced plans to review agreements between Nigeria and other nations to ensure local carriers can operate international routes without hindrance, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for aviation development and international travel.
