In a significant milestone for infrastructure development, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) inaugurated the Oruma rigid pavement road, a vital by-pass connecting commuters from Bayelsa and Rivers states, situated in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The unveiling ceremony, marked by the commissioning of solar-powered street lights, underscores the NDDC’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and socio-economic prosperity.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the NDDC, emphasized the commission’s dedication to advancing infrastructure projects across the Niger Delta region. In a statement issued on Saturday, Ogbuku, represented by Executive Director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai, reassured residents of forthcoming project inaugurations in the region, signaling the commission’s proactive stance towards addressing critical infrastructure needs.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the Oruma road project, Ogbuku underscored its role in facilitating transportation for local communities, particularly farmers, and enabling the efficient evacuation of agricultural produce to urban centers. The project exemplifies the NDDC’s commitment to fostering socio-economic development and improving livelihoods across the Niger Delta.

Contractor Christian Emeozor lauded the NDDC for its visionary approach in initiating the Oruma road project and praised the collaborative efforts of the Oruma Community, whose support and cooperation facilitated the timely completion of the infrastructure endeavor.

Addressing attendees at the commissioning ceremony, King David Amakiri, the paramount ruler of Oruma Community, expressed gratitude for the NDDC’s investment in the region’s development.
