Former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, along with ex-Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and one-time Senate President Ahmad Lawan, were among the high-profile figures who attended the final burial rites of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Also present were several former governors, including Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), and Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno), the latter of whom once served as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Among the civilian elite in attendance was billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote. The ceremony also drew key figures from Buhari’s administration, including former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and former Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen.
More dignitaries are expected to arrive in the coming hours, including President Bola Tinubu, religious leaders, and traditional rulers, as the state funeral for the late president continues.
