Ondo PDP deems governor Akeredolu’s power handover ‘long overdue’ amid health concerns

Peoples Democratic Party Urges Acting Governor Aiyedatiwa to Propel the State Forward

Must read

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has characterized the decision of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to transfer power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as “long overdue.” Amid concerns about Akeredolu’s health, the PDP asserts that the state has experienced stagnation over the past six months.

The publicity secretary of the Ondo PDP, Kennedy Peretei, expressed his views, stating, “Akeredolu’s medical vacation is long overdue; I don’t know why they waited this long to do this. Ondo State is already the butt of every joke. Let’s pray that things will at least move in the state instead of the stagnation witnessed in the last six months.”

The Ondo State House of Assembly officially recognized Aiyedatiwa as the acting governor after receiving a letter from Akeredolu ceding authority to his deputy. The PDP now urges Aiyedatiwa to take swift action to move the state forward.

In a related development, the state commissioner for information and orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, clarified rumors about the freezing of local government accounts. Dismissing the reports as untrue, she emphasized that the acting governor had not issued any order to freeze the council’s accounts. Ademola-Olateju affirmed the state government’s commitment to the effective functioning of local government areas as part of grassroots development initiatives.
