The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon Governor Chukwuma Soludo to refrain from attacking critics and commentators, emphasizing the need for an open dialogue and accountability in governance.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Uloka Chibuike, the spokesperson for the PDP in Anambra, expressed concern over what he perceives as continuous verbal assaults by the governor’s aides against critics. Chibuike suggested that these attacks hinted at an administration that may be “adrift and marooned.”

Governor Soludo was reminded of his role in a public position of trust and the expectation that he remains accountable to the people. Chibuike stressed that the government is not a private business platform for launching attacks, emphasizing that citizens have the right to demand accountability.

The statement pointed out recent attacks by the Press Secretary and other senior aides against critics of the administration’s policies and achievements, which the PDP described as “minimal or next to nothing” compared to the promises made. According to Chibuike, these actions portray the governor as someone facing challenges, lacking popularity, and lacking a substantial scorecard.

The PDP emphasized that critics and commentators are not adversaries but concerned citizens offering suggestions for improvement. Chibuike stated, “It is unacceptable for Soludo to become defensive and resort to verbal onslaught when reminded that there is little evidence on the ground to justify his 19 months in office.”

This call for open dialogue and constructive criticism reflects the PDP’s stance on the importance of transparency, responsiveness, and public engagement in governance. As Anambra navigates its political landscape, the demand for accountability takes center stage in the discourse between the government and its citizens.
