President Tinubu set to commission vital gas infrastructure projects

Must read

President Bola Tinubu is slated to unveil three pivotal gas infrastructure projects spearheaded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its collaborators, marking a significant stride towards harnessing Nigeria’s gas reserves for economic growth.

The projects to be commissioned include the AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 in Delta State, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Projects in Imo State. Together, these initiatives are projected to yield a combined output of 1,400 million standard cubic feet per day.

In a statement titled ‘President Tinubu to commission critical gas infrastructure projects,’ Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, emphasized the pivotal role of these projects in advancing the nation’s gas utilization agenda and curbing gas flaring.

The AHL Gas Processing Plant 2, an extension of the Kwale Gas Processing Plant, is expected to substantially enhance domestic gas supply, with plans to ramp up its capacity to 180 million standard cubic feet per day by the end of May. This expansion, developed by AHL Limited—a joint venture between NNPC Limited and SEEPCO—will bolster industrialization efforts and reduce reliance on LPG imports.

Additionally, the ANOH Gas Plant, designed to process gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field, will significantly augment domestic gas supply, leading to increased power generation and industrial growth. Mechanically completed in December 2023, the ANOH Gas Plant represents a crucial milestone in Nigeria’s gas utilization drive.

Completing the trio of projects is the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project, aimed at evacuating dry gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South treatment facility to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station. This transmission pipeline, crucial for efficient gas distribution, underscores Nigeria’s commitment to optimizing its gas resources.

As Nigeria advances its gas utilization agenda, the commissioning of these projects signifies a pivotal step towards enhancing energy security, driving economic prosperity, and fostering sustainable development.
