UBA illuminates the yuletide spirit with annual Christmas carol service

United Bank for Africa Plc ushered in the festive season with a heartwarming Christmas carol service held at the UBA Foundation Garden on Lagos Island. The event, attended by staff, customers, and the public, stands as a testament to the bank’s dedication to corporate social responsibility, spreading joy, and illuminating communities.

The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA, Oliver Alawuba, led the management staff in officially lighting up the head office and the UBA Foundation Garden. In his remarks, Alawuba emphasized the symbolic significance of the ceremony, portraying UBA as a beacon of light in the financial sector across the continent and beyond.

Alawuba stated, “We are here to officially light up the season, and as you know, UBA has been the light in the financial sector on the continent and beyond. Going by our performance, we will continue to ensure that we spread light and joy wherever we go. This is very symbolic for us all, and we want to take time to appreciate the staff and customers who have made us achieve great things this year. At UBA, we are all about spreading love and giving hope.”

The Light-Up ceremony featured enchanting Christmas carol renditions by UBA’s Customer Fulfilment Centre Choir, providing a festive atmosphere. Attendees were treated to a guided tour around the picturesque UBA Foundation Garden, enhancing the sense of community and celebration.

Alero Ladipo, UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, spoke about the event’s essence, emphasizing the bank’s commitment to environmental aesthetics and community upliftment. She said, “UBA is a bank that values its environment, and as a corporately responsible organisation, we have taken it upon ourselves to beautify our environment and add colour, especially as the year comes to an end. I hope that, as always, we will be able to make many smile and give a glimmer of hope during a special season like this.”
