The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims circulating on social media that candidates linked to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri were removed and replaced following the party’s recent primaries.
Party officials described the reports as a coordinated attempt to sow division within the APC, insisting that the outcomes of the primaries remain unchanged.
Speaking to journalists, the party’s spokesperson in Adamawa, Dogo Victor, dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
“Do not mind them. There is nothing like that. Nobody has been replaced with another name. The primary election results remain intact,” he said.
Victor argued that the rumours were being fuelled by individuals dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries.
“Some people who lost during the primaries, conducted in a free and fair environment, are fanning the embers of crisis. The APC in Adamawa State remains one family,” he added.
The reports had alleged that several candidates who emerged from the primary process, including members of the House of Representatives, were subsequently dropped in Abuja.
Among those named was Dauda Nyampa, who represents the Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency and was reportedly adopted as the party’s candidate without a primary contest. Social media claims suggested he had been replaced at the national level.
Similar allegations were made regarding James Barka, the representative for Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, who was also said to have emerged through an adoption process before allegedly being substituted.
The reports further claimed that Hajiya Ramatu Bello, an Abuja-based politician associated with the Mubi North/Mubi South/Maiha Federal Constituency ticket, had also been affected by the purported changes.
Adding to the speculation, some online accounts alleged that political actors linked to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, were seeking to sideline figures considered close to Governor Fintiri ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other reports claimed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had intervened in internal political negotiations to secure a Senate ticket for Fintiri.
However, the APC dismissed the claims in their entirety, maintaining that no alterations had been made to the list of candidates produced during the primary exercise.
Victor said the results collated in Adamawa remained valid and unchanged, urging party members and the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
The denial comes amid heightened political manoeuvring in Adamawa and across the country as parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections.
