In preparation for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State on September 21, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a formidable 197-member campaign council. The list, released by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, designates Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu as the campaign council chairman.
Governor Otu will be supported by Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda as co-chairman and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole as deputy chairman. Other prominent members of the council include Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who will serve as assistant secretary, along with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others.
Notably, the council also includes Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, who recently defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will contest against the ruling party’s candidate Asue Ighodalo and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata in the forthcoming election.
