The Bauchi State Government, on Wednesday, held the South East edition of its Economic and Investment Summit Roadshow in Enugu as part of ongoing nationwide efforts to attract strategic investors and unlock the vast economic potential of the state.
Speaking during the event, held at the prestigious De’Castle Resort, GRA Enugu, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a resilient, private-sector-driven economy anchored on infrastructure expansion, industrial development, and agricultural transformation.
He noted that the current wave of investment activity in Bauchi is a product of deliberate reforms and visionary leadership, which have collectively positioned the state as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment destinations.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, added that, “We have opened up Bauchi through enhanced security, ease of doing business, tax incentives, robust infrastructure, and access to land and resources. The South East, renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit, is a strategic partner in our development vision.”
The summit, themed “Rebuilding a Resilient Economy: Optimizing Investment and Partnerships,” aimed to connect key stakeholders from across the domestic and international investment landscape, including government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and development partners.
It also sought to promote SME growth, unveil ready-to-invest opportunities, and foster strategic collaborations.
According to a statement by the governor’s media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, the event attracted a strong turnout of South East industrialists, entrepreneurs, and investors, many of whom expressed interest in sectors such as agro-processing, solid minerals, tourism, construction, renewable energy, and ICT.
The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Chinedu Nebo, a former Minister of Power, lauded the proactive stance of the Bauchi State Government.
“What we see in Bauchi is genuine political will, infrastructure readiness, and a real commitment to investor support. Our companies are ready to explore opportunities in mechanized farming and agro-processing,” he said.
Similarly, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, Executive Secretary of the South East Business and Investment Summit, commended Governor Bala Mohammed’s investment-focused approach to governance.
“Bauchi isn’t just making promises; they’re taking action. That gives us confidence in partnering with them,” he noted.
Investors at the event also highlighted Bauchi’s young population, abundant arable land, strategic location, and investor-friendly policies as major attractions.
A detailed multimedia presentation by Professor Murtala Sagagi, Chairman of the Bauchi State Investment Summit Committee, alongside Hon. Salis Gamawa, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, showcased the state’s recent investment success stories.
The event featured an interactive session, business networking, and one-on-one investor matchmaking meetings.
Gidado added that the roadshow will continue across other geopolitical zones as part of Bauchi’s broader plan to become the commercial and industrial hub of the North East.
The Bauchi delegation to Enugu included Hon. Zakariya Sale, Chairman, Bauchi State House Committee on Commerce and Industry; Hajiya Amina Katagum, Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Hon. Yahuza Adamu Ningi, Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor; Hajiya Ladi Katagun; Mohammed Kabir Sizwe, Director General, Markets, Parks, and Terminals; Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor; and other support staff from the Investment Summit Secretariat.
