Binani declared winner of Adamawa gov election

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the Adamawa State governorship election, Barrister Hudu Yunusa, has declared Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, as the winner of the poll.

Yunusa made the declaration following the supplementary election held Saturday.

Ari’s earlier declaration had come under fire for not being authorised to do so. Only the Returning Officer has the constitutional power to declare the winner.

By this victory, Binani has become the first woman to be elected governor in Nigeria. Born on August 11, 1971 (age 51 years) and educated in Southampton, she hs been in the Nigerian Senate since 2019
