Shaibu, who spoke during a TVC programme on January 1, conveyed remorse for his previous choice of words against Oshiomhole during the face-off between Obaseki and the former governor. Despite their political differences, Shaibu emphasized that Oshiomhole remained his father.

The rift between Obaseki and Oshiomhole emerged in 2020 when Obaseki sought re-election for a second term, leading to Obaseki’s departure from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. While Obaseki and Oshiomhole appear to have settled their differences, Shaibu, eyeing the Edo governorship, has become a contentious figure in the political landscape.

Addressing the TVC audience, Shaibu shed light on his gubernatorial ambitions, asserting that they were grounded in a divine conviction to serve the state and return governance to the people. Expressing remorse for his previous remarks, Shaibu acknowledged the complexities of the political landscape.

“I express remorse over my choice of words against Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in times past, and I insist that the former governor, now a senator at the National Assembly, remains my father despite our political differences,” stated Shaibu.

Elaborating on his aspirations, Shaibu emphasized that his desire to become the next governor of Edo State stemmed not merely from his personal identity but from his constitutional rights. He disclosed thorough consultations with various individuals and groups within and outside Edo State, coupled with seeking divine guidance through prayers.

Shaibu acknowledged the governor’s plans to support another candidate, making it evident that his gubernatorial ambitions might face internal political challenges. However, his commitment to serving Edo State and aligning governance with the people’s interests remained unwavering, as outlined in his interview.
