FCT minister Nyesom Wike affirms progress on capital projects

In a demonstration of his administration’s dedication to fulfilling pledges made to residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Nyesom Wike provided an update on the progress of key projects during a recent inspection tour in Abuja. Addressing the media over the weekend, Wike highlighted the strides made in completing various infrastructure undertakings, reaffirming the government’s commitment to delivering on its commitments.

During the inspection, Wike visited several significant projects, including the Construction of the Southern Parkway from the Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, the Full Scope Development of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1, and the Construction of the Vice President’s official residence. Additionally, he surveyed the Completion of B6 and B12 Circle Road, also known as Independence and Constitution Avenue, and the Full Scope Development of the Arterial Road, N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway.

Reflecting on the timeline set by the FCT Administration to complete ongoing road projects by May of this year, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far. He commended the contractors for their diligence in adhering to the established schedule, noting that the projects are nearing completion with approximately 98 percent of the work done.

“This is a promise made and a promise kept,” Wike asserted, underscoring the government’s commitment to showcasing tangible achievements within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first year in office. He lauded the efforts of construction companies such as Setraco and CGC, acknowledging their dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure that enhances the aesthetic appeal and functionality of Abuja.

With projects such as the Southern Parkway and OSEX nearing completion, Wike expressed optimism about the forthcoming inauguration ceremonies, highlighting the meticulous attention to detail and finishing touches being applied by contractors. He extended gratitude to the companies involved for their steadfast commitment to meeting deadlines and ensuring that the FCT’s infrastructure development remains on track.

As the completion of these projects draws closer, Wike’s assurance of timely delivery underscores the government’s resolve to prioritize the needs and aspirations of FCT residents, reaffirming its pledge to foster sustainable development and prosperity in Nigeria’s capital city.
