In response to the crippling transportation costs plaguing Lagosians, Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) has vowed to continue its free bus service across key routes in the city. Launched just two months ago, the service operates every Monday and Wednesday, connecting busy hubs like Gbagada, CMS, Victoria Island, Ikorodu, and Ikeja.
The church’s initiative, which has already benefited over 600 commuters on each operational day, provides a lifeline to residents struggling with the skyrocketing price of fuel and transportation. HICC is now looking to expand the service to more areas, bringing further relief to a city known for its challenging commuting conditions.
In a statement, HICC addressed the rising cost of living and the church’s desire to offer practical support: “With fuel prices soaring, the cost of getting around Lagos has become a burden. We introduced this free bus service to alleviate some of the pressures residents face, helping them get to work, school, or simply go about their daily lives.”
The church further emphasised the overwhelmingly positive response from users, noting that many have shared how the service has made a tangible difference in their daily routines.
As HICC plans to extend its reach, it urges Lagosians to make the most of the service and spread the word to those in need. The initiative, it said, is a testament to its commitment to supporting the local community during tough economic times.
