The caretaker chairman of the Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Zacchaeus Michael, has been kidnapped by gunmen, the state police have confirmed.
William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kogi State, disclosed the incident on Saturday, stating that Michael was abducted on Friday night along the Kabba-Okene Road in the Kabba area.
“Yes, I got the information. The state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has already deployed officers for a search-and-rescue mission. We are on top of the situation,” Aya told our correspondent.
Sources, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, reported that Michael was taken alongside several of his aides. “Reports indicate that CTC Kabba/Bunu Chairman, Zacchaeus Dare Michael, and some of his aides have been kidnapped by gunmen on the Kabba-Okene Expressway in Kabba,” one source said.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any credible information that might aid in their safe recovery. “I urge everyone to pray for their immediate and safe release, asking for divine intervention and protection during this critical time,” added the source.
The abduction has sparked concerns and calls for heightened security measures in the region as officials work tirelessly to ensure the safe return of Michael and his aides.
