Lagos State governor unveils vision for 2024, emphasizes Rule of Law, project milestones

In a significant address during the state’s 24th Annual Thanksgiving Service, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, outlined his administration’s commitment to enforcing laws and implementing pivotal projects in 2024. Themed ‘The Righteous Shall Praise Your Name,’ the service was held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, and attended by dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reassured the citizens of Lagos that the year 2024 would be crucial for enforcing meticulously crafted laws and regulations aimed at safeguarding lives and property. He emphasized the integral role of the rule of law in ensuring societal progress and prosperity. The Governor announced his intention to sign into law the 2024 Lagos State Appropriation Bill later this week, marking a pivotal milestone in delivering on administration promises.

Addressing the congregation, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed the government’s dedication to fostering growth and well-being in the state. He highlighted ongoing major projects that would transform the economy and landscape of Lagos and the significance of the 2024 budget in realizing these goals.

The governor urged Nigerians and Lagos residents to continue praying for public office holders, emphasizing the need for divine wisdom and grace in decision-making. He encouraged Lagosians to uphold the rule of law by paying taxes, obeying traffic rules, and disposing of waste responsibly. Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the government’s commitment to making law-abiding easier through various reforms.

Reflecting on the Thanksgiving Service’s theme, ‘The Righteous Shall Praise Your Name,’ the Governor urged the congregation to be grateful for God’s preservation, mercies, protection, and numerous blessings. He acknowledged the importance of the annual tradition, marking the fifth since he assumed office and the first of his second term.

In his exhortation, Rt. Rev. Stephen Adegbite of CAN appreciated God for answering prayers in the election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu, emphasizing God’s goodness to Lagos State. The Commissioner of Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Layode, reiterated the service’s purpose in expressing gratitude for God’s mercy and witnessed growth in the past year. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to more developmental projects aligned with the THEMES+ Agenda.
