Speaking with journalists and media executives in Akure, the state capital, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep reverence for Akeredolu’s enduring legacy, emphasizing the former governor’s earnest desire for his succession. Aiyedatiwa underscored the bittersweet sentiment of assuming leadership in the absence of his mentor, lamenting Akeredolu’s untimely passing.
“I am proud to say I am a part of Akeredolu’s legacies,” remarked Governor Aiyedatiwa, echoing the sentiments shared by his late predecessor. He recounted Akeredolu’s steadfast endorsement of his leadership, a sentiment reiterated during their inaugural ceremony and subsequent executive meetings.

Meanwhile, as Ondo State prepares to bid farewell to the late former governor, funeral arrangements commenced with a solemn soul crusade held at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure. Richard Olatunde, Chief Press Secretary to the late governor, articulated the collective mourning and commemoration of Akeredolu’s indelible contributions to public service.
“As we bid farewell, we acknowledge that our parting is not one of finality. Instead, we commit ourselves to preserving Akeredolu’s memory and upholding the noble deeds he accomplished throughout his life. Even in death, his influence remains steadfast, for he shall forever be our guiding light and inspirational leader,” Olatunde remarked, encapsulating the enduring legacy of Governor Akeredolu.
