According to Lt. Col. Suleiman Omale, the Information Officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, the engagement occurred on February 28, 2024. Omale reported that the troops, equipped with superior firepower, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives.

“Through the bravery and determination of our troops, scores of terrorists were neutralized, their hideouts destroyed, and the area secured with assertive and confidence-boosting patrols,” Omale stated.

All rescued individuals were promptly handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families, ensuring their safe return to normalcy.

Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of the Joint Task Force and General Officer Commanding the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army, lauded the unwavering commitment and resilience of the troops. Their continuous efforts are pivotal in restoring peace and stability to the North-West region, particularly in states like Zamfara, which have been severely impacted by banditry.

Zamfara State has been among the hardest hit by the scourge of banditry, making the recent successes of Operation Hadarin Daji even more significant in the ongoing battle against insecurity in Nigeria.
