In a resounding celebration of democratic principles, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) extended warm congratulations to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State following the Supreme Court’s judgment that upheld his victory in the fiercely contested March 18, 2023, governorship election. On Thursday, the court dismissed three separate appeals lodged by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Young Progressives Congress, and New Nigerian Peoples Party, along with their respective candidates, against Governor Eno.

The dismissal came after legal representatives for the concerned parties chose to withdraw their appeals, solidifying Governor Eno’s position as the rightful victor. Reacting to the verdict, Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, hailed the decision as a triumph for democracy and a clear affirmation of the people’s will in Akwa Ibom State.

Ologunagba expressed, “The spontaneous jubilation across Akwa Ibom State at the news of the judgment of the Supreme Court shows that the verdict is in line with their expressed will, aspiration, and choice at the March 18, 2023, governorship election.” The PDP spokesperson emphasized that Governor Eno embodies humility, compassion, and vision, qualities that have endeared him to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Umo Eno, hailed as a seasoned administrator with extensive managerial skills honed in both the private and public sectors, emerged victorious at the polls due to his commitment to good governance. The PDP’s recognition of the court’s decision underscores the significance of preserving the democratic process and respecting the voices of the people.
