The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rolled out the timetable and activity schedule for the anticipated bye-elections scheduled for February 3, 2024. Following the nod from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of bye-elections due to the resignation or demise of members of the National and State Houses of Assembly, the PDP is gearing up for the electoral process.

Signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the timetable outlines key milestones in the lead-up to the elections. Commencing on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, the notice of primary elections and congresses to state chapters will set the stage for the electoral proceedings.

Prospective candidates can obtain nominations, expressions of interest, and delegate forms starting from Thursday, December 28, 2023, until Wednesday, January 3, 2024. The primary election is slated for Monday, January 8, 2024, with appeals on the party primary scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

The PDP has established the cost of expression of interest and nomination forms for various positions. For the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly, the forms are priced at N3.5 million, N2.5 million, and N600,000, respectively.

In a statement, the party clarified that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are required to pay for nomination forms only. Furthermore, youths below 40 years old, both male and female, are encouraged to purchase Expression of Interest forms, benefiting from a 50% discount on nomination forms.

Aspiring candidates are directed to contact the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, for detailed information on the form acquisition process.
