Peter Obi Disowns Viral Political Statements Amid Growing Speculation

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has denied authoring a series of statements currently circulating on social media that allege a shift in his political allegiance.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Obi’s media aide, Umar Ibrahim, dismissed the claims as “false and misleading,” stressing that neither of the statements originated from the former Anambra State governor or his official communication channels.

One of the viral statements reportedly suggests that Obi denied returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and instead reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Another purportedly claims he had been offered the position of National Organising Secretary within the ADC.

“These are fabrications,” Ibrahim stated, adding, “Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and doesn’t need anyone to put words into his mouth. He has remained focused on his mission but would not accept anybody attributing a statement to him just to satisfy their devious agenda.”

Obi, who has remained a central figure in political discourse since the 2023 elections, continues to be the subject of speculation regarding his next political move. His media office, however, insisted that any credible communication would come directly from official channels.

“The public is advised to disregard any statement purported to come from him outside his media office or his verified social media handle,” the statement concluded.
