Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to Rivers State Government, has stirred controversy by alleging an attempt to bribe him into orchestrating the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking at a rally in the Ahoada East area, Ehie revealed the purported plot, refraining from disclosing the identities of those involved.
In a viral video clip from the rally, Ehie asserted his refusal of the bribe, emphasizing his loyalty to the governor and rejecting any involvement in subversive activities. However, he claimed that his principled stance led to his unjust declaration as a wanted individual.
This revelation surfaces against the backdrop of heightened political tensions in Rivers State, exacerbated by a longstanding feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The state has been embroiled in a protracted crisis, marked by allegations of corruption, power struggles, and factionalism within the government.
Ehie’s allegations add fuel to the fire, further complicating the already turbulent political landscape. With no resolution in sight, Rivers State remains mired in uncertainty, as rival factions vie for control amidst a backdrop of intrigue and distrust.
