Adamawa State-born Senator Ishaku Abbo finds himself at the center of a new controversy following the emergence of a viral video allegedly implicating him in a sexual scandal. This development marks yet another contentious episode for Abbo, who, during his first tenure in the Senate two years ago, faced public outcry after assaulting a breastfeeding mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja.
The latest scandal broke last week when a leaked video surfaced online showing a light-skinned man engaged in sexual intercourse with a woman purported to be married. Despite the unclear footage, which only shows parts of the man’s legs, the name of Senator Abbo has been circulated as the person in the video, an accusation that remains unproven and lacks substantiation from credible sources.
Following the video’s circulation, Arewa PUNCH reported that Senator Abbo held a press conference on Thursday evening to address the allegations. Denying any involvement, Abbo challenged the identification process, stating, “How can you identify a person without seeing his face, his body, only parts of his legs and you said it is Senator Abbo.”
The senator, who was removed from his seat in the Red Chamber by an Appeal Court earlier this year, accused his political rivals of orchestrating what he described as “timid blackmail.” He remained defiant, saying, “Blackmail cannot stop me from winning elections. A senator from one of the northern states was shown in a sex video with his entire body, but he still won an election to the Senate, and his wife won an election to the House of Representatives. My people love me. No amount of blackmail can stop me.”
Senator Abbo also threatened legal action against those he suspects are behind the circulation of the video, asserting that attempts to damage his reputation would not deter his political ambitions. He stressed that his supporters would continue to back him due to his performance while serving in the Senate, indicating his confidence in overcoming the scandal’s potential impact on his political career.
