The decision by President Bola Tinubu to appoint Hon. Olawande Wisdom as the Minister of Youth Development has been warmly welcomed by West African youth leaders, who see the move as a significant step towards advancing youth empowerment in Nigeria. Vice President of the Pan-African Youth Union for West Africa, Oladele John Nihi, who also serves as Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers to Governors in Nigeria, has praised Tinubu’s choice, describing it as a “wise and inspired decision” that reflects a deep commitment to supporting the nation’s young people.
Hon. Olawande Wisdom’s elevation to the position follows his prior service as Minister of State for Youth, where he made a notable impact through his dedication to youth initiatives and empowerment programmes. Nihi highlighted that Wisdom’s promotion is not only a recognition of his accomplishments but also a signal of the administration’s serious focus on equipping young Nigerians to thrive.
“President Tinubu’s recognition of Hon. Olawande Wisdom’s unwavering commitment to youth matters is a vote of confidence in his leadership capabilities. His passion for developing the potential of Nigerian youth and his fidelity to service have earned him this well-deserved upgrade,” said Nihi.
The Pan-African Youth Union and the Forum of Special Advisers to Governors in Nigeria have expressed their collective support for both Hon. Wisdom and President Tinubu’s vision, pledging continued collaboration to advance youth-focused initiatives that address issues from education to economic inclusion.
“Thank you, President Tinubu, for this inspired decision,” Nihi added, echoing the sentiment of youth leaders across the region. The appointment signals renewed momentum in the drive for youth empowerment in Nigeria, as both Hon. Wisdom and the administration set their sights on creating a thriving environment for the nation’s future leaders.
