Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering professionalism among civil and public servants during a courtesy visit by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Lagos House, Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the government’s ongoing collaboration with CIPM to elevate professionalism within the human resources cadre of the state’s civil service.

The governor, drawing from his experience as the former Commissioner for Establishment, Pensions, and Training, stressed the importance of instilling a professional trend across various cadres within the public service. He expressed satisfaction with the trajectory of civil servants and public servants undertaking professional examinations at CIPM, underscoring the institute’s role in maintaining a high standard for the Human Resources cadre.

Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the relevance of CIPM certification, characterizing it as an appropriate measure to ensure that the Human Resources cadre maintains a level of professionalism, avoiding becoming an all-comers cadre.

As the Special Guest of Honor at CIPM’s 55-year anniversary in Abuja next week, Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the institute’s significant contributions to both the private and public sectors over the years.

In his remarks, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the administration’s good governance and impressive performance over the past four and a half years. Mojeed acknowledged the milestones achieved in Lagos, citing projects aimed at improving the lives of residents for a Greater Lagos.

Seeking to deepen the partnership, Mojeed appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu for support in recognizing and including CIPM certifications in the Lagos State Scheme of Service, signaling a commitment to further collaboration between the institute and the state.
