In a significant breakthrough, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended Bello Mohammed, a suspected bandit allegedly involved in the tragic murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, one of the victims in the recent Bwari abduction case.

Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar was among the six girls abducted alongside 17 others from the Al-Kadriyar family in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on January 2, 2024, sparking nationwide outrage and calls for justice.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Mohammed was apprehended at a hotel in Kaduna on January 20, marking a significant stride in the ongoing efforts to unravel the complexities of the kidnapping and murder case.

Adejobi revealed that Mohammed was found in possession of N2.25 million, suspected to be proceeds from ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the abduction of the Al-Kadriyar family and the subsequent tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar on January 13, 2024, in a kidnappers’ camp in Kaduna State.

In a dramatic turn of events, Mohammed attempted to influence the Divisional Police Officer with a bribe of N1 million, a gesture that was firmly rejected as the police remained resolute in their pursuit of justice.

Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has directed that Mohammed be handed over to the Directorate of Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT) in Abuja for thorough investigations, emphasizing the commitment of the police force to bring all perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.

Commending the dedication and professionalism displayed by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Idris Ibrahim, in handling the case, Egbetokun reiterated the unwavering resolve of the police to dismantle criminal networks and safeguard the security of all citizens.

As investigations unfold, the Nigeria Police Force affirms its steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and well-being of all Nigerians in the pursuit of a more secure society.
