Senate President Godswill Akpabio has affirmed the commitment of the National Assembly and the executive arm of government to collaborate in providing Nigerian workers with a living wage and improved working conditions. In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio emphasized the imperative of ensuring that no Nigerian worker labors under inhumane conditions.

Declaring, “No Nigerian worker will again be allowed to work under inhuman conditions,” Akpabio pledged to prioritize the welfare of workers and endeavor to provide them with the best working environment they deserve.

In his message commemorating the 2024 May Day, Akpabio lauded the sterling qualities exhibited by Nigerian workers, including patriotism, hard work, resilience, and dedication to duty. Reflecting on his longstanding association with Nigerian workers spanning over 25 years, Akpabio highlighted the profound spirit of the Nigerian worker that resonates across the nation.

Addressing this year’s theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” Akpabio underscored the National Assembly’s commitment to promoting the best working conditions for Nigerian workers. He reaffirmed that the theme aligns with international best practices and assured that Nigeria would remain at the forefront of safeguarding workers’ rights and well-being.
